I need to view the filenamesin the timeline, not clipnames.
I have to replace all audio from quicktimes...
How can I do this ?

Well, with FCP the filenames usually are the clip names. Unless you captured and THEN named your footage. (If so, please tell me that your original file names aren't UNTITLED, UNTITLED-1, UNTITLED-2).

FCP will only display clip names. But if you have FCP 6 or 7, you can rename the files to match the clip names so that you can find them easier.

This isn't like Avid where you have file names with 32 BILLION characters. But then that helps Avid keep VERY good track of things.

Hm, that doesn't help.
I have several clips in the timeline which are described by the slate numer (01-01/01).
I used wav files and mov files. Both have the same clipname (because they are merge clips)
So I need to find out which clip from the timeline has .mov to change that clip...
I could check every single clip with "reveal in finder" but that would take ages...

So your question is that you would like to see the extension of each file in your timeline, not just the name of the clip/filename?.. is that correct?

Yes, that was correct. In Avid it would be "Clip Text">"Media File Names" or "Source Names".

I solved the problem, already...by checking every single clip in the timeline.
