Hi.
We have edited a video on avid.
Can we open its avid file to FCP?
or can we translate its EDL to FCP?

The PROJECT file? No, you can't. But the sequence...the timeline...yes.

www.automaticduck.com Pro Import is what you need. Export an AAF from Avid, and then import that into FCP with the Pro Import plugin. You will have to install the Avid codecs, but then FCP will be able to read the Avid media.

Next week Automatic Duck will be releasing a product that converts entire bins too.

Thank you, Shane, but I'm afraid that last sentence isn't accurate. We announced this week Media Copy version 3.0, our media copying/archiving utility. Media Copy will be getting the capability to read Avid bins, but it is not a translator or converter in any sense.

AH, I did misread. Thanks for clarifying.

I'll check it out at NAB.
