exporting file to upload on the internet

Hi,

I'm exporting a DV Pal Anamorphic 720 x 576 sequence for the first time to be uploaded to a you tube website. What is the best way to do this? I notice compressor has three categories of web settings containing many options. How big should the file be? You tube want H264 or mpeg 2 or 4, with audio preferably in an AAC 44.1khz format.

Thanks, Sal

Do you have fcp7? If so use the share option and choose you tube. That's it.
Matt.

Thanks Matt,

Unfortunately I have version 6.0.6. I've been testing various paths to export, but they all seem to stretch the anamorphic image out of shape. It's bewildering, as everyone I've asked uses a different method. I'd also really like to know how which codec to use, how fast the bit rate should be and the optimal file size for uploading to the web. Then, as I've been editing music to pictures at 48kh, doesn't it knock it out of sync if you convert to 44.1 as you tube requests?

What you'll probably need to do is take one of the stock settings then duplicate and modify it:

So do a search in Compressor on "H.264" and you should see a setting called "H.264 800Kbps". Select this setting and duplicate it, then rename it.

Select the duplicated setting and in the Inspector window, choose the second "tab" named "Encoder".

Click on the Audio > Settings button and change the sample rate to 44.1000Khz (this won't put your audio out of sync)

In the Inspector window, click on the fifth "tab" named "Geometry"

Set the Frame Size popup to "Custom (16:9) and enter 854 for the width and 480 for the height. Since you're using PAL SD, the most suitable size for YouTube is 480px height which comes up in their player as 480p.

Save the setting and try it out. Depending on how it looks, you might need to increase the data rate limit in the Video > settings button if the quality isn't good enough.
