Tuesday Tips: Starting Afresh

Most editors have FCP set up so that the projects that were previously open are automatically opened again when the application launches. This is an option in the User Preferences > General tab:

user preferences

If you’re using FCP6.0.2 or later then there’s a useful feature that allows you to override this setting and launch FCP with a single blank project. Simply hold down the Shift key until the about screen disappears and you’ll see only the very famous ‘Untitled Project 1′ and nothing more.

In fact it’s a lot better to use this setting, because if you get a project with a corruption that won’t open, it won’t mean you can’t FCP at all.
